Written in sand, caught in adultery...

Both can be seen, yet washed away by the same person...

Welcome back family of God!

It's wonderful to be able to wake each day and give thanks to the Lord that we have been given grace enough to do as He has called us to.  Let's take a moment now, as we should all throughout our day, and praise God that He is exactly who He says He is.  He is our Redeemer, and though He has need for nothing, He loves us and desires us to be saved...what a hope filled wonder for our very spirit brothers and sisters!

Last weekend was great, we are very thankful for every gathering we get to have with one another to share a meal, study the word, worship and praise the Lord.  Getting to hear others come up and share their testimonies is a blessing as well, and we encourage you to do so, remembering to keep it Christ centered.  The Lord Jesus Christ is our blessed testimony, so come and tell others how He has brought you from your old life of sin to living a life for Christ.  Pastor Scott continued in his series in the Gospel of John, we began in chapter 8 this past week, our verses for the night were John 8:1-11, where we studied the encounter of the woman caught in adultery, and Jesus writing in the sand.

As we began we start off our Lord in the Temple teaching, and the Pharisees bring in a woman that was caught in the act of adultery (just the woman mind you, they didn't bother bringing the man).  They brought her in just so they can devise a way to trap the Lord in somehow breaking the law of Moses!  With a bird's eye view that we have, we can see futility of this mess since we know who gave Moses the law to begin with....but let's continue!  As they bring the woman in, they start in with the questions in what should be done with her, and the law of Moses says she should be stoned!  The Lord continues writing in the sand paying them no attention for the moment, so they start in again with the devised trap.  If only they can trap Him...surely they can arrest Him, and His entire following, all of it will be brought to nothing they must think!  The Lord stops writing in the sand and stands up for a moment and says to them "Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her."  Let's be honest brothers and sisters, their "gotcha" question has not only backfired but has entirely exposed everyone as a sinner, but exposed their hypocrisy loud and clear.

Well just as you can imagine at this point, all of the men starting from older on down to the younger men began to leave until there was nobody left.  And the Lord says to the woman, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?" She said, "No one, Lord"  Then the Lord says, "Neither do I condemn you, now go and sin no more". Wow! Did you see the amount of mercy and grace that He just showed her?  Speculation here, but can you imagine as if her sin was being written in the sand...but since only He can wash away sins, the act of what He did is like water running of words written in sand?  Or perhaps a hand sweeping of what's written in the sand?  Only God knows what's in the hearts of men, so certainly only Jesus knew what the entirety what was going on there...  There is one thing we can certainly extract from this though dear friends, we ought to live every day remembering the grace and mercy that God shows us, His live should encourage us to live a repentant lifestyle for Him.  The other thing we can definitely know from this, and all of the encounters with Jesus...God hates hypocrisy...let us live in the truth brothers and sisters...let us live in the truth.

Don't forget to contact us for any spiritual needs we can help you with right here on our website, share out videos as well!  Our sermons are posted weekly and can be found here online as well as our YouTube channel.  We hope to see you next week for fellowship, worship and a meal!

Until we meet again, let's go serve our King!
