The Way of...
The righteous or the way of the wicked...
Welcome Brothers and sisters,
As we continue forward in the book of Psalms we invite you to watch, share and of course check everything by the scriptures. It is a wonderful thing we get to do by the grace of God. Saturday night we Pastor Scott took us into the deep waters of Psalm 1, showing the great path of the righteous and the dark path of the wicked as they are contrasted side by side. Let's review together from last sermon!
Psalm 1 serves as an introduction to the entire book of Psalms. It contrasts the ways of the righteous and the wicked, emphasizing the blessings that come from following God’s path. Here are the key verses:
- Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked:
- The psalm begins by highlighting the blessedness of those who avoid the counsel of the ungodly.
- Walking in alignment with God’s principles leads to true happiness.
- Delighting in God’s Law:
- The righteous person’s delight lies in God’s law—His instructions and teachings.
- Meditating on His law day and night cultivates a heart attuned to God.
- Steadfast Like a Tree by Streams of Water:
- The imagery of a tree planted by streams of water conveys stability and nourishment.
- The righteous yield spiritual fruit in due season, and their lives remain vibrant.
- The Contrast: The Wicked as Chaff:
- In contrast, the wicked are like chaff—light, worthless husks blown away by the wind.
- Their way lacks substance and permanence.
- Divine Watchfulness and Judgment:
- The Lord watches over the righteous, ensuring their well-being.
- Ultimately, the wicked will face judgment, while the righteous find favor.
Reflection:
Psalm 1 invites us to choose our path wisely—to delight in God’s Word and walk in His ways. May we be like the firmly rooted tree, drawing sustenance from the living waters of His truth.
With that said we hope to see you next week, for worship, fellowship and a meal afterward. Please contact us for anything we may be able to help with in your walk with Christ. Until we meet again, lets go serve our King!
