Jesus Christ, the Greater...

King, Prophet, High Priest, Savior, Brother...and more!

Welcome brothers and sisters!

We pray you are having a wonderful day, as it is one that the Lord has made...so let's all rejoice and be glad in it amen!  Every moment we have been given is one we should strive to keep our thoughts towards Jesus Christ our Lord, that His name would be kept Holy and our every action would be guided by the very Spirit of God who is Holy forever!

Saturday night...what a wonderful night! We were joined by our brothers and sisters who came up from Alabama to run VBS for the kids in Wasilla area, a blessing for certain!  We want to thank them, and all of you for sharing in worship, fellowship and a meal with us Saturday night.  We also want to thank those who came up to testify of the glorious works that our Lord Jesus Christ has done and is doing, to bring them to salvation.  May His praise and wonderful deeds always be present on our lips, ready to share with all others!

Our sermon for the night was faithful and true to God's Word as we continued in the book of Hebrews.  The night centered on Hebrews 3:1-6 and there is certainly far more time we could take to focus on how Jesus is the greater Moses...however we only have so much time in an evening!  We very much encourage you to watch the sermon from Saturday, check all things to scripture of course, and share it with others!  As we grow in the Spirit and devote ourselves to the study of scripture, and prayer (being alone with God), more and more we can see how Jesus is the greater in all things.  As Pastor Scott discussed on Saturday, the writer of Hebrews in no way diminished Moses, but showed that while Moses was faithful...Jesus was far more in all areas of God's House.  We pray you find it edifying and helps to build you up in your most Holy faith, giving us a servant's heart of love for God and neighbor.  Below will be a brief synopsis from Hebrews 3:1-6, the sources being from Microsoft Bing, Biblegateway.com and of course, the Bible!

Jesus Greater Than Moses

In this passage, the author of Hebrews compares and contrasts Jesus and Moses, two of the most important figures in the history of God’s people. He shows that while both of them were faithful to God, Jesus is superior to Moses in His role and His glory.

The author begins by addressing his readers as holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling. This reminds us of our identity and destiny as God’s children, who have been called by God to inherit eternal life through faith in Christ. He then urges us to fix our thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our Apostle and High Priest. Jesus is the one who was sent by God to reveal His will and to offer Himself as a sacrifice for our sins. He is the one who represents us before God and intercedes for us. He is the one who deserves our attention, praise and devotion.

The author then states that He (Jesus) was faithful to the one who appointed Him, just as Moses was faithful in all God’s house. This is a high praise for both Jesus and Moses, who obeyed God’s commands and fulfilled their missions. Moses was a great leader and prophet, who delivered the Israelites from slavery in Egypt, mediated the covenant at Sinai, and guided them through the wilderness. He was faithful as a servant in all God’s house, bearing witness to what would be spoken by God in the future.

But Jesus is even greater than Moses, because He is not only a servant, but also a Son over God’s house. He has a closer relationship with God and a higher authority over His people. He is the builder of the house, not just a part of it. He is the one who established the new covenant with His blood, not just a mediator of the old covenant. He is the one who leads us to the promised land of heaven, not just through the desert of this world. He has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself.

The author then concludes by saying that we are His house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory. We are God’s people, His family, His dwelling place. We belong to Christ, who is our Lord and Savior. But we need to persevere in our faith and hope, and not turn away from Him. We need to remain faithful to Him, as He was faithful to us.

There is a great quote by John Calvin, and something we should keep in mind. "We should ask God to increase our hope when it is small, awaken it when it is dormant, confirm it when it is wavering, strengthen it when it is weak, and raise it up when it is overthrown."

When we remember that our Hope is Christ Himself, we will see a living hope, for it is no longer we who live...but Christ who lives in us remember?

Brothers and sisters, we love you and care for you and long to help you in your Christian walk however we may...so please contact us for anything we can help with and always remember that Jesus is with you as you share your faith and testimony with others!

Until we meet again, let's go serve our King!
