He knows us, let us give all to know Him

Welcome brothers and sisters!

God is good, always and forever amen?  We wanted to thank everyone for joining us Saturday night, sharing testimonies, worship and a meal!  The fellowship was wonderful and as always we look forward to more, always in the presence of the Lord and for His glory.  We wanted to share the continuation of Pastor Scott's sermon into the book of Hebrews, and it is God honoring to be certain! Our verses covered Hebrew 2:5-18, however we didn't completely finish...so we have that to look forward to on Saturday! We encourage you to take time today to watch, listen and share as well as check everything to the lens of scripture.  Below is an synopsis of Saturday's sermon and we pray it does well for you in your spiritual walk!

Hebrews 2:5-18 is a passage that explains how Jesus Christ became the founder of our salvation by becoming fully human, while still fully God, and suffering death for us. The passage contrasts Jesus with the angels, who are not the rulers of the world to come, nor the recipients of God's help. The passage also shows how Jesus is not ashamed to call us His brothers and sisters, and how He is able to help us when we are tempted.

The passage begins by stating that God did not subject the world to come to the angels, but to someone else. This someone else is identified by quoting Psalm 8:4-6, which describes how God made humans a little lower than the angels, crowned them with glory and honor, and put everything under their feet. However, the passage notes that we do not yet see everything in subjection to humans, because of sin and death.

But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because He suffered death for us. By the grace of God, He tasted death for everyone, so that He could bring many sons and daughters to glory. He is the pioneer or founder of our salvation, who was made perfect through suffering.

The passage then explains how Jesus is related to us as our brother and our high priest. He who makes us holy and we who are made holy are from the same family. He is not ashamed to call us his brothers and sisters, as He quotes Psalm 22:22 and Isaiah 8:17-18 to show his solidarity with us. He also became fully human in every way, so that he could become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and make atonement for our sins, through the shedding of His own blood. He himself suffered when he was tried and tempted in every way, yet remained without sin, so He is able to help us when we are tempted.

The passage ends by highlighting the victory of Jesus over the devil, who holds the power of death. By sharing in our flesh and blood, Jesus destroyed the devil and freed us from the fear of death and slavery. He did not come to help the angels, but the descendants of Abraham, who are His people by faith.

The main message of this passage is that Jesus Christ is our Savior, our Brother, and our High Priest. He became like us, suffered for us, and died for us, so that we could be made holy, forgiven, and free. He is the one who rules the world to come, and He invites us to join Him in his glory. He is the one who understands our weaknesses, and He offers us His help and grace. He is the one who deserves our worship and praise, for He is greater than the angels and greater than anything else.

We encourage you to contact us and about what it means to repent of your sins, turning to Jesus for forgiveness and living for Him.  Contact us here and we love and care for each of you!

Until we meet again, let's go serve our King!
