Fear of the Lord Part 2 - 4

Trust the Lord and take His yoke.

Welcome brothers and sisters!

God is good amen!  Let every day be a reminder of the Glory of God and His mighty works that He has done.  He has given us such a purposeful and wondrous message that sinners can be saved by His merciful free gift of grace through Jesus Christ His Son.  We want to thank everyone for coming on Saturday to worship, fellowship and share a meal with us.  As we move forward in Pastor Scott's message on the topic of "Fear of the Lord", he brought us a message out of 2nd Corinthians 6:14-18 this week to show us the importance of being yoked equally.  We pray you can take some time to watch and share this week's sermon, and as always be sure to check everything according to the scriptures.  Below is a summary from Saturday's message, we truly hope to see you next week at 7pm on Saturday.

This passage provides essential guidance for believers, emphasizing the importance of spiritual discernment and separation from ungodly influences.

Unequally Yoked: A Call to Holiness

2 Corinthians 6:14-18 (ESV):

14 Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? 15 What accord has Christ with Belial Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever? 16 What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; as God said,

“I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them,
and I will be their God,
and they shall be my people.
17 Therefore go out from their midst,
and be separate from them, says the Lord,
and touch no unclean thing;
    then I will welcome you,
18 and I will be a father to you,
and you shall be sons and daughters to me,
says the Lord Almighty.”

Key Points:

  1. Unequal Yoking:
  • Paul warns against being unequally yoked with unbelievers. Just as oxen should not be mismatched in a yoke, believers should not form close partnerships with those who reject Christ.
  • Righteousness and wickedness cannot coexist harmoniously. Light and darkness have no fellowship.
  1. Christ and Belial:
  • Belial (or worthlessness) represents evil or Satan. There is no compatibility between followers of Christ and followers of darkness.
  • Our allegiance to Christ should be unwavering, and our associations should reflect this commitment.
  1. The Temple of God:
  • Believers are the temple of the living God. God dwells within us through the Holy Spirit.
  • Our bodies are sacred, and we must honor God by avoiding idolatry and sinful practices.
  1. Separation and Holiness:
  • God calls us to separate ourselves from worldly influences. We are to be distinct, set apart for His purposes.
  • Avoid unclean practices and lifestyles that compromise our devotion to God.
  1. Promised Relationship:
  • God promises to be our Father, and we become His sons and daughters.
  • Our identity is rooted in this divine relationship.

Reflection:

As believers, we are called to holiness. We must carefully choose our associations, avoiding partnerships that dilute our commitment to Christ. Let us live as temples of the living God, reflecting His light and love to the world.

Until we meet again, lets go serve our King!
