A Cry for Refuge
The Lord hears His people
Welcome brothers and sisters!
We want to share last weeks sermon with everyone, so as always please check everything according to the scriptures. We aim to join together every week, every day with the Lord and His people to share in the wonder that is His presence. As we worship together, remember to take what we learn to the lost world outside our church doors, to share the glory of the Gospel to that very dying world. Only the Lord Jesus Christ can save, and how can they hear unless we take the message to share? Our study from last week was from Psalm 61, and lets review below:
Psalm 61 is attributed to David, and it beautifully expresses the human longing for God’s protection and presence. Here are the key verses:
- Hear My Cry, O God:
- David begins with a heartfelt plea: “Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer.”
- His soul reaches out to the Almighty, seeking refuge.
- From the Ends of the Earth:
- David’s desperation leads him to call out from the farthest reaches: “When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”
- The imagery of a towering rock symbolizes God’s unshakable strength and security.
- A Shelter and Strong Tower:
- David acknowledges God as his refuge and strong tower against the enemy.
- In times of distress, he seeks the safety of God’s presence.
- Abiding Forever:
- David longs to dwell in God’s tent forever, finding refuge under the shelter of His wings.
- This desire reflects an intimate relationship with the Divine.
Reflection:
Psalm 61 teaches us to cry out to God, trusting in His unwavering protection. May we find solace in the Rock that stands higher than any challenge we face.
With that said we hope to see you each week in person, Saturdays at 7pm for worship, fellowship and a meal afterward. Until we meet again, lets go serve our King!
